BENGALURU: Transporting his sedan from to Bengaluru in late 2015 was no less than a nightmare for the vice-president of a city-based IT firm: it was soaked in water and extensively damaged (over Rs 3 lakh) during the time of delivery. The man recently won his three-year legal as the firm was ordered to pay him a full refund towards the damage and a compensation of Rs 80,000 for the trauma caused.
In October 2015, Simanta Dutta, 31, from Halanayakanahalli, decided to bring his 2013-model Hyundai Elantra from his hometown in Assam, Margherita. He approached Agarwal Packers and Movers Ltd and representatives of the firm promised to transport the car safely to Bengaluru after collecting a transportation charge of Rs 43,670. They took possession of the sedan on October 9, 2015 and said it be delivered on October 26. With the delivery date having elapsed and not being able to track the vehicle online, Dutta questioned the firm's representatives at their Lalbagh office. However, the staffers were non-committal in their replies. After much coaxing, Dutta managed to get them to deliver his car to an authorised service station in Domlur on November 6, 2015.
