Actress Jana Malik on her new venture; an online bakery

Actress Jana Malik has turned her passion into a profession by opening an online bakery.
Speaking about her love for baking on Bakhabar Savera, she shared “Cooking is like therapy for me. To release stress, tension or tiredness I cook because it makes me feel better.”

The 35-year-old actress decided to learn baking properly and explore her potential “I got a diploma in professional patisserie from SCAFA. I am having so much fun [with baking].”
It all started with a batch of donuts, and later the starlet tried her hands on pastries, cupcakes and cakes.
As far as acting is concerned, Jana was 2.5 years old when she got her first photoshoot done. “Acting is not work for me, acting is life so that is always going to be there,” she said. For now, she has taken a break from it to manage her online bakery.
Jana said she use healthy ingredients and her products come from reputable sources.
The newly turned baker doesn’t take many orders as she would like to considering it takes a lot of time to make fondant cakes and she does it all by herself.
Expressing gratitude for the love fans have showered on her new venture, she said “A fan called from Islamabad and said she can postpone her daughter’s birthday celebration if I bake a cake for the occasion. I was, however, unable to deliver due to the weather.”

She baked a chocolicious cake—her own invention,  for ARY Digital’s 19th anniversary.

Walmart ups its bakery game with online cake ordering, new products

Walmart (WMT), the world's largest retailer, has quietly upped its bakery game by rolling out online ordering and adding new products in stores that’s boosting its share of the cake market.
As a fresh product offering, the bakery is essential to the store — just like its produce section has become critical as one of the first things customers encounter when entering a Walmart.
It's also a big business, with one in every four cakes sold in the U.S. coming from Walmart, according to the company.
"We have some crazy, crazy statistics," said Kinna Thomas, senior buying manager for cakes at Walmart. "We sell enough sheet cakes to circle the earth and the equator. That's lots and lots of cake that we have.”
She added: “As far as our icing is concerned, you know those shell-borders that go on the edge of birthday cakes? We use enough icing to make that border from the earth to the moon and back."
Approximately 90% of the U.S. population lives within 10 miles of a Walmart store. With millions of celebrations — from birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, and graduations — there's a vast market for cakes for the retailer to capture.

The dessert market is no longer about cake—it's getting savoury too

Shrey Aggarwal and Alisha Shirodkar, founders of The Belgian Waffle Co, have 200-plus stores in over 55 cities in India
The sweet tooth craves more than just desserts. That has been the learning of a bunch of businesspeople who started with a specialised item, but have since diversified their offerings with other varieties while retaining their core focus. This is largely because of millennials who flaunt their love for waffles, pancakes, cheesecakes and churros on social media.

Vikesh Shah, for instance, discovered pancakes during a visit to Europe with friend Dev Kapadia in 2017. They founded 99 Pancakes after their return the same year. “We’re the first to introduce mini Dutch pancakes in India, also known as poffertjes globally. I wasn’t sure if it will work in India, but I took a chance and opened our first store in Kala Ghoda, Mumbai. There were no plans to expand then,” claims Shah. Today, 99 Pancakes has 65 outlets across India.

Ishant Sharma Gifts Himself The Perfect Birthday Gift By Beating THIS Record Of Kapil Dev

Ishant Sharma created a new record for an Indian pacer as he surpassed Kapil Dev's tally and became the leading wicket-taker in overseas conditions outside Asia.

Ishant Sharma scored his first Test fifty in Jamaica Test.

Ishant took a five-wicket haul in the first Test in Antigua.

Ishant has surpassed Kapil Dev for most wickets in overseas conditions outside Asia.

Ishant Sharma is having a wonderful tour of the Caribbean. In the first match, he took a five-wicket haul and established a partnership of 60 with Ravindra Jadeja to help India recover from a shaky position. In Jamaica, Ishant smashed his maiden Test fifty and helped Hanuma Vihari notch his first ton. The Delhi right-hander, more known for his exploits with the ball, has enjoyed a good run with the bat in 2019, having recently scored his first First Class century while batting at No.9 for Sussex against Leicestershire in the recent County season. However, on day 3 of the Sabina Park Test match, Ishant created history and gifted himself a magnificent birthday gift.

When he took the wicket of Jahmarh Hamilton, Ishant took his 156th wicket in Tests outside of Asia and he created a new record. Ishant's wicket of Hamilton took him past the legendary Kapil Dev's tally of 155 wickets overseas. While Kapil took 45 matches, Ishant surpassed the record in his 46th game.

Zaheer Khan is the other pacer in the group with 147 wickets in 38 Tests while Javagal Srinath and Mohammed Shami have 117 and 101 wickets. Shami also went past 100 wickets in Tests outside Asia in this match when he took the wickets of Rahkeem Cornwall and John Campbell.

Choosing the Best Birthday Gifts

There are numerous wonderful presents that will delight your child. Something simple as a soft wool scarf or a Bottle coffee gear can work perfectly. Any gift that benefits your child can really be amazing. Whether it’s cashmere, an athletic outfit, or a Polaroid mini camera your kid and their partner would really feel great. However, you shouldn’t just buy any gift. Think of universal ones that won’t offend anyone, rather they should delight them. Here are some amazing ideas. You can view here for the best birthday gifts.

Cashmere
Cashmere isn’t a bad gift. Pick something that’s rich and solid in color. It could actually end up becoming a staple of your adult child’s winter wardrobe. For instance, a scarf would work perfectly for masculine as well as feminine partners. Both of them would actually love a lightweight print since they’re ideal for a warmer climate, too.

Athletic gear
Everyone enjoys a good workout. Most athletes and yoga enthusiasts love new trainers, but wouldn’t mind receiving a gift card to Lululemon. Make your loved one feel valued by getting them the best sports gear in town. If he or she loves sports or yoga exercises, they’ll truly appreciate such a wonderful gift.

Be Aware of Your Audience

Nobody enjoys being overweight and a gym-related gift can be of great help to your adult child. But if they frequently visit the gym just to utilize the treadmill and play basketball, they probably won’t need an extra set of weights.

Don’t Forget the Tea and Hot Chocolate
Pod coffee makers can make a great present for those who love hot beverages like tea, coffee, and chocolate. Gift your beloved child with a Keurig mini version along with other fun teas, like peppermint, and lemon ginger. This will really delight them.

Gifts for the Eagle-Eyed

Does your child have a creative hobby? Well, art supplies would make an incredible present. Perhaps you may find it difficult determining the materials as well as the brands they prefer, but a gift card could work pretty well. If you’re striving to make an impression, go for creative artwork. Get creative and exciting pieces and they’ll definitely thank you forever.

Go Retro

With the current technological advancements, everything including greeting cards and photographs is digital. Going retro with a Polaroid mini camera can work like magic. It comes with lots of films and the novelty of printing photos immediately after they’re taken will inspire fun snaps as well as lots of laughs for everyone. Of course, your loved one could still rely on their smartphones for quality pictures, but the instant gratification of prints will be more interesting for special events.

The Bottom Line

Looking for a unique present for your adult child? Well, there are countless choices to pick from. However, it’s always important to exercise caution while choosing these gifts to avoid hurting the feelings of your loved ones. Stick to universal presents such as coffee makers, gift cards, cashmere, and athletic wear.

Accessibility Items Make the Best Birthday Gifts for Those with Disabilities

I celebrated my birthday Aug. 24. I wrote in my recent column about the importance of looking forward with a positive attitude despite my diagnosis of Friedreich’s ataxia (FA). Because my FA is progressing faster than my family or I had expected, I have learned to accept that I will need modifications and adaptations sooner rather than later. I have also recognized that it is OK to ask for things that will help with my accessibility needs.

Two years ago, my husband, Justin, gave me Vans sneakers because my physical therapist advised me to invest in footwear that would help with my balance while walking. She suggested the brand because the shoes, which were designed for skateboarders, have a thick, flat sole and provide comfort while being light, flexible, and breathable. Vans has a variety of styles to satisfy myriad fashion tastes, which is important for a young woman.

This year when Justin asked me what I would like for my birthday, I told him that a backpack would help me when I am out and about in the city. He knows that I like the designer brand Kate Spade New York, so he bought me a black nylon bag from the range. Carrying a backpack rather than a handbag allows me to be more alert and keep my hands free while walking with a rollator.

On Labor Day weekend, Justin and I decided to visit Philadelphia’s Independence Seaport Museum for the first time. We planned to continue to Spruce Street Harbor Park afterward to watch the fireworks, as both attractions are in the same vicinity. The museum is on the waterfront; visitors can go aboard a former U.S. Navy ship and a submarine. The USS Olympia was launched in 1892, and though it still has its original features, I was able to maneuver myself and my rollator around the ship without any issues.
