Your 40th birthday is a major milestone in your life, whether you choose to accept your age or not! Fortunately, the grey hairs probably aren’t showing quite yet and you’re still young enough to have a big birthday celebration. The pub crawl is a classic way to celebrate your birthday, no matter how old you are. Get your mates back together, pick your favourite pubs and have a pint or two at each pub. Live music, pool, darts or a pub quiz are a great way to have a laugh on your night out. Go to a nice restaurant
Maybe you fancy something a bit less messy and don’t want to face that monstrous hangover in the morning. If you’re a big food fan, a great restaurant might be more up your street. Pull out all the stocks, pick somewhere fancy and book in advance. If you fancy a touch of class and high quality food, see if any restaurants near you have been awarded a Michelin star or two.
If you’ve already got a favourite restaurant, book that instead. This is also a good alternative if you or your mates have kids, though you could always book a babysitter if you or your friends want the night off to yourselves!

If the weather’s good and you’ve got the garden space for it, you could always invite everyone over for a huge barbeque. This is a great chance for you to show off behind the grill and to enjoy some beers in the sun. This is another family friendly alternative, as you can let the kids run round the garden and keep an eye on them while you are your friends sit back and enjoy the food.

Get plenty of food and drinks in for the party. If your garden is big enough, you could hire a marquee to make your celebration that much more impressive.
Stay indoors
Maybe the weather’s not so good for a barbeque or you don’t want to travel too far, there’s nothing wrong with staying in and having some mates over if that’s what you want to do. There’s plenty you can do to have a great party in your own home, whether you want to throw a huge house party or just invite some friends over for some beers.
Go on holiday
Take that trip you’ve always wanted to do.
