Before you peruse happy Fathers Day gift cards with fish, golf, and beer themes, check out these ideas for gifts from companies that produce their products in America.
Weber Grills
Update Dad’s grill situation with a Weber grill or Weber accessories. Most Weber grills are made in Palatine, Illinois (though some gas grills are made overseas). The Weber Original Kettle Premium Charcoal Grill is highly-rated and perfect for the charcoal-beginner. For an experienced griller, up his game with a Weber smoker. Target has a variety of Weber products and I’ve been very happy with their shipping lately.
Chesapeake Bay Candles
You may think of candles as more of a Mother’s Day gift, but hear me out. Dad is probably tired of being surrounded by feminine and sweet scents. Chesapeake Bay Candles, made in Whatley, Massachusetts, have several masculine scents. I like Leather Oak, Coastal Driftwood and Sweet Tobacco (think memories of Grandpa, not cigarettes).
Lodge Cast Iron Skillet
Foodie dads will love this classic 12-inch skillet. Lodge is based in South Pittsburg, Tennessee and founded in 1896. If Dad already has a favorite skillet, try this dutch oven. Side note: My favorite way to cook a steak comes from Mike Broomhead in our book, If You’re Gonna Be Dumb, You Better Be Tough: Lessons from My Life with Bulls, Protestors, and Politicians.
Liberty Junkies’ Made in America Collection
For freedom-loving dads who make dad jokes, you can’t go wrong with these American-made t-shirts. Liberty Junkies was created by political and culture commentator Julie Borowski. One thing to note is that because of COVID-19, there may be shipping delays. No worries though, just print out a picture and tell him it’s on the way!
Lasko Fans
Lasko Fans have plants in Texas, Tennessee, and Pennsylvania. It should be noted that some parts for some of the models come from overseas, but all are assembled in the USA. This model that includes a remote and nighttime setting is perfect for the dad who always has an eye on the thermostat.
Woobies Shoes
Woobies Shoes is based in Dallas, Texas and veteran owned and operated. I really love these stylish camo “Operators.” From the description: “Here Special Forces meets Skate. The OPERATORS are an all-around badass shoe that is specialized for skate, style, comfort, and anything worth living for. We bring you the highest quality and functionality for the value.”
Flags of Valor
A friend told me about this company and it inspired me to make this list. The company’s description says it all: “Flags of Valor — a veteran owned, veteran operated, and veteran made company — has been driven by three ideals: veterans are our strength, made in America still matters, and giving back is essential.” Products include wooden flags, wood coasters, cutting boards, and more. I really love this Phantom Fury wooden flag that “commemorates the bravery of the servicemen who took part in the fierce action to retake Fallujah, Iraq in November 2004 during Operation Iraqi Freedom.” Another fun gift idea is this flag kit so Dad can help the kids build a flag and teach them about the importance of American values and freedom.
