She's the czarina of Indian television, what with the kind of TV shows that she has been spinning year after year. From a sitcom like Hum Paanch, a landmark show like Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, introducing an interesting plot with Bade Achche Lagte Hai and setting trends with Naagin - clearly there's no replacement for Ekta Kapoor in the industry. Just as the ace producer turns 44 today, we speak with one of the actors from Ekta's debut television show. Rakhee Vijan, who became famous as Sweety with Hum Paanch, remembers the good old days when Ekta started out her journey as a TV professional from a garage.
"Ekta had set up her office in the garage of her family owned a bungalow in Juhu. It was her father (Jeetendra) who told her to start off her career as a producer by turning the bungalow's car parking space into an office. Today she owns the entire empire! Ekta had done up the office very well though," says Rakhee.
