Step 1

Grease the sides of a round 9-inch springform pan that is 3 inches deep with cooking spray or softened butter. Line the sides with a strip of parchment.

Step 2

Add the cream cheese to the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the whisk attachment. Whisk on medium speed, about 3 minutes, until smooth. Add the heavy cream, increase the speed to medium-high and continue to whisk until incorporated.

Step 3

Add the sugar and vanilla, and whisk the mixture, about 3 to 5 minutes, until it holds stiff peaks that stand upright when the whisk is raised. Use a rubber spatula to fold in the rainbow sprinkles and mix just to incorporate.

Step 4

Spread a thin layer of whipped cream (about 1 3/4 cups) on the bottom of the pan and cover with a layer of cookies, filling any gaps with broken cookies (breaking them yourself, if necessary.) The pieces should touch; the goal is a solid layer of cookies. Continue layering until you reach the top of the pan, ending with a layer of cream.

Cover the top of the cake with plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator for 6 to 8 hours, or overnight.

Jason Momoa celebrated his 40th birthday with a Guinness and whiskey cake that weighed 168 pounds

Jason Momoa was surprised with a Guinness and whiskey cake for his birthday, and it weighed a whopping 168 pounds.

The massive cake, made by UK-based baker Aggy Dadan of Edible By Aggy, took a week to make and was infused with Guinness and whiskey. It was served atop a giant sugar surfboard and featured a massive wave on one side and a mountain on the other — two of Momoa's favorite things, Dadan told INSIDER.

"I was thinking, what could be better than putting the whole thing on a sugar surfboard," Dagan said. "We incorporated a little mini pint of Guinness, because he loves Guinness, and a little box of donuts for his best friend [Mada Abdelhamid], who calls himself 'Donut Man.'"

Late in 2018, Dadan made a 3/4 scale cake bust of the actor for the Aquaman premiere and kept in touch with Momoa afterwards. This time, Abdelhamid, who is also Momoa's trainer, reached out to Dadan and commissioned the cake for his surprise 40th birthday party in London.


"Jason is a big family man, so [Abdelhamid] wanted to include things that represented that in the cake," Dadan said. "They left it pretty much up to me, which I love. I love when people let me use my creativity."

Dadan included a few pieces to represent Momoa's family life, such as the wolf and the moon, which represent his son Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha Momoa, and his wife Lisa Bonet.


The elaborate confection featured a chocolate figurine of Momoa riding a wave and playing guitar at the same time, as well as a similar figurine climbing a mountain. The cake was also served on a sugar surfboard made out of a thin wooden skeleton covered in a half inch of pure sugar, Dadan explained.

Study: Work Is Good for You, But Only 8 Hours a Week

We all know we’d be 100 percent healthier if we only worked less. Many Americans are overworked, which means higher stress and lower mental well-being. Unfortunately, according to a new study, we’d need to cut down at work much more than most of us can afford.

In a study from the University of Cambridge and the University of Salford, researchers unlocked the work pattern that would be best for employees’ mental health. While examining any links between how much people work, mental health, and life satisfaction in more than 71,000 people working in the U.K., British scientists found that it was best for mental well-being to work around one day a week (or just eight hours weekly).

In fact, there were no boosts to mental health when people worked more than eight hours per week. But when moved from unemployment or stay-at-home parenting into working up to eight hours per week, mental health risks reduced by an average of 30 percent.

According to the report, “Full-time work was not the optimum category, as it was not significantly different from any other category in terms of mental health and well-being.”

The study suggested something we’ve all kind of expected — we’d enjoy our work a lot more if we worked less. In order to enjoy any mental health benefits that come with employment, the workweek has to be drastically reduced.

“Most policy options for addressing a potential rise in unemployment levels have focused on measures such as a universal basic income to provide economic support to those without employment,” the authors said. “Our findings support an alternative, more radical, theoretical perspective — a redistribution of working hours in society.”

While most of us can’t fathom surviving on an eight-hour workweek, the study’s authors suggest other options, such as five-day weekends, limiting work to just a couple of hours per day. Another is increasing vacations and time off to months rather than weeks.

Cutting work hours not only brings mental health benefits to employees, but it actually results in increased productivity and cutting carbon emissions from commuting. According to Cambridge University sociologist Brendan Burchell, “If the UK were to plough annual productivity gains into reduced working hours rather than pay rises, the normal working week could be four days within a decade.”

So while it’s good to get paid, we might want to take a look at the benefits that come with working less. Plus, a lot of us can agree on one thing — a five-day weekend would make us all feel a lot better.
